My wife, Isa, drew this image using colored pencil on paper back in 2002. Then I scanned it into my computer.

I asked her if she could create a drawing showing water coming out of a bottle and some fruit with faces floating. I don't know whether the "The Virgin" with the halo and the bird with the olive branch was my idea or hers. I can't remember! I asked her to draw it to contribute to the early stages in the development of "The World of Poeticah."

I used Paint Shop Pro to alter it some for presentation on the computer monitor and I also altered it more by making the colors more vivid and changing the aspect ratio to create an image that I thought would be better suited for t-shirts. Knowing what I know now, I think I would have been more cautious on how these alterations were applied.

I generated 4 new images from it applying the kaleidoscope effect using Paint Shop Pro. Can you find these kaleidoscopes in "The World of Poeticah?" Although I've received my 10 required comments, more comments or questions are always deeply appreciated in order to engage in a dialogue!

Twin Palms

Want to know more about this image? Sometimes art gets created over many years. The story that led to this image unfolded over a period of about 20 years! It goes back to traditional photography and taking pictures with an old fashioned 35 mm SLR. I don't know how long it took me to create the image below. Also, I don't know if I'd be able to recreate it if my life depended upon it! You can read the story by clicking on the link below:

Take the journey!

My Poem - Tlamatini

I stated that I would post the story of my experience with a Mexican girl. You can enter comments about the poem and of course you can also enter more comments about the image! are lost
in the labyrinth

Sunrise
Feathers of pink with cream
caress the paintings
on the walls
of the labyrinth

Together they stand before one of the paintings
Under the spell of the labyrinth
each person believes
that the images will point
to the way out
to his view of
Creative Enlightenment

Coyote sees an awesome image of Huitzilopochtli
pointing a spear
toward the Spectacular Sun Smile
The other ears are deaf to his words
The other eyes are blind to his vision

Father Guadalupe sees an image of La Virgen de Guadalupe
Tlamatini
But they do not see or hear her

The sun has risen
The girl blows away into iridescent sand
They cannot agree on their different visions
to Creative Bliss
So they each go their separate way

Coyote walks the trail of the Aztec gods
Father Guadalupe the way of La Virgen
Aquarius the path of the signs of the zodiac
Papyrus follows the words of his awesome poem
But no one finds the way to
Creative Nirvana

Sunset
Beats of purple pink yellow and orange
vibrate through the painted walls
of the image laden labyrinth
The iridescent sand blows back in
bearing Tlamatini again and again
before Coyote
in front of Aquarius
before Father Guadalupe
and in plain sight of Papyrus
But they never notice her

They keep on walking and wandering
and wondering
down the channels of the labyrinth
from sunrise to sunset
sunrise to sunset
until the earth
